ULV Diploma, University of La Verne Degree
ULV Diploma, University of La Verne Degree

The University of La Verne (ULV) traces its origins to the Los Viegos College (affiliated with the Los Viegos Peace Church), founded in 1891 in Los Viegos, California. The college began with 65 students enrolled in a disused hotel, with tuition set at $11 per semester. In 1917, it was renamed La Verne College following the renaming of the surrounding agricultural community. During the 1920s and 1930s, nearly one in four students chose the teacher education program, and the school supplied a large number of high-quality teachers to universities throughout California. In 1977, it was officially renamed California University of the South, completing its transition and development from a teacher-training college to a comprehensive university.

La Verne University currently comprises five colleges—the College of Arts and Science, the College of Business, the LaFayette School of Education, the College of Health and Community Well-being, the School of Law, and the School of Public Service—as well as more than 60 undergraduate programs, over 20 master’s and doctoral programs, and multiple teaching locations. Its educational facilities are distributed across eight campuses in Southern California, as well as in Alaska and Greece.
