Campus Location and Transportation
The UNR main campus spans 200 acres and is located in downtown Reno, Nevada’s second-largest city, near Lake Tahoe and the Tahoe National Forest. It is approximately a 3.5-hour drive from the San Francisco Bay Area. The drive from Reno-Tahoe International Airport to campus takes 5–10 minutes, costing approximately $10. The city’s main public transportation is the RTC bus system, with multiple routes serving the campus’s core area. Students can use their WolfCard to receive discounts on bus fares. Campus Dining Options and Reviews
UNR’s campus dining received a B- rating on Niche. It includes a variety of on-campus restaurants and cafes. According to Niche’s student survey results, the most popular dining options are Panda Express (17%), Joe Crowley Student Center (16%) and Port of Subs (15%). Additionally, the campus features chain stores such as Starbucks, Panera Bread, Mexican restaurants, sushi spots, and burger joints. The Dine-In Dining Hall offers a hot buffet, salad bar, and desserts, with the menu changing weekly. Approximately 55% of students are very satisfied with the campus dining facilities, and annual food expenses average around $6,297. Financial Aid and Support Systems
UNR offers more than 30 scholarship programs, providing international students with funding opportunities ranging from $300 to $12,000 per year, The Office of International Student Services (OISS) offers new and current students scholarships ranging from $300 to $5,000 annually . Approximately 80% of international graduate students receive funding through research assistant positions provided by their departments. The university provides an average of $18,801 in financial aid per student each year. UNR’s financial aid system is guided by the principle that “everyone can afford it,” The Pack Promise+ program offers grants to eligible students covering tuition, fees, and books (up to $11,750 per year). The average annual tuition for out-of-state students is $28,930. Students can apply for GUS scholarships through their MyNEVADA account between October 1 and February 1 each year.
