Campus Location and Transportation
The UNH main campus is located in Durham, New Hampshire, approximately a 90-minute drive from Boston. The campus features the Amtrak Downeaster station, with multiple daily trains to Boston North Station, Portland, and destinations in Maine; the trip from Boston takes about an hour. The on-campus Wildcat Transit system offers free rides on campus shuttle routes and public bus lines serving nearby towns such as Dover and Portsmouth. Library Resources and Collections
The UNH Library System holds approximately 2.7 million print and electronic books, as well as over 140,000 titles of print and electronic serials, covering all academic disciplines including the social sciences, humanities, business, health, and education. The main library, Dimond Library, is a designated regional repository for U.S. Government Publications and houses the Connors Writing Center, the Academic Technology Support Center, and Zeke’s Café. Three specialized branch libraries have been established to provide dedicated support for physics and engineering disciplines. The collection is further enriched through the Boston Library Consortium and the global interlibrary loan system, providing faculty and students with a wealth of learning resources.
Scholarship Types and Coverage
UNH awards over $200 million in scholarships and need-based financial aid annually; 88% of first-year students receive funding, with the average annual scholarship for undergraduates reaching $12,400.
- Dean’s Scholarship: Awarded to high-achieving applicants with a weighted GPA between 3.50 and 3.69, this scholarship provides $6,000 annually and is renewable for up to four years. It is not a separate application-based program and is awarded upon admission.
- Global Excellence Scholarship: The Global Excellence Scholarship is an academic award for international students, offering up to $10,000 per year. No separate application is required; eligibility is automatically determined upon enrollment.
- Presidential Scholarship: Amounts range from $5,000 to $20,000 per year and are awarded based on academic merit; international students are eligible to compete for this scholarship.
- Other Scholarships: International students are also eligible to apply for on-campus scholarships labeled “out-of-state,” as well as awards based on SAT/ACT scores and high school rankings. Additionally, students with a GPA of 4.01 or higher may qualify for the Trustee’s Scholarship.

UNH’s Career and Professional Success (CaPS) office provides students with comprehensive career support. Students use the Handshake platform to search for and apply to full-time or internship positions. Large-scale career and internship fairs are held twice a year in the spring and fall; the spring 2023 event alone attracted over 220 employers and 1,300 job seekers.
