Campus Location and Transportation

The UNH main campus is located in Durham, New Hampshire, approximately a 90-minute drive from Boston. The campus features the Amtrak Downeaster station, with multiple daily trains to Boston North Station, Portland, and destinations in Maine; the trip from Boston takes about an hour. The on-campus Wildcat Transit system offers free rides on campus shuttle routes and public bus lines serving nearby towns such as Dover and Portsmouth. Library Resources and Collections

Scholarship Types and Coverage

UNH awards over $200 million in scholarships and need-based financial aid annually; 88% of first-year students receive funding, with the average annual scholarship for undergraduates reaching $12,400.

  • Dean’s Scholarship: Awarded to high-achieving applicants with a weighted GPA between 3.50 and 3.69, this scholarship provides $6,000 annually and is renewable for up to four years. It is not a separate application-based program and is awarded upon admission.
  • Global Excellence Scholarship: The Global Excellence Scholarship is an academic award for international students, offering up to $10,000 per year. No separate application is required; eligibility is automatically determined upon enrollment.
  • Presidential Scholarship: Amounts range from $5,000 to $20,000 per year and are awarded based on academic merit; international students are eligible to compete for this scholarship.
  • Other Scholarships: International students are also eligible to apply for on-campus scholarships labeled “out-of-state,” as well as awards based on SAT/ACT scores and high school rankings. Additionally, students with a GPA of 4.01 or higher may qualify for the Trustee’s Scholarship.
