Admissions Policy and Admission Requirements
Hamburg maintains an open and diverse admissions policy, with an acceptance rate of approximately 70%. International students applying are typically required to provide proof of high school equivalency and English proficiency test scores that meet program requirements: Programs generally require an overall IELTS score of 6.0 (with no band below 5.5); bachelor’s degree programs typically require an overall IELTS score of 6.5 (with no band below 6.0).
If language scores do not meet the requirements, students can fulfill admission requirements by completing the college’s English language courses. Admission difficulty and document requirements for each program may vary based on application volume; some programs offer three intakes in January, May, and September.
Scholarship System: Convenient Financial Aid with No Additional Application Required
Hamburg University’s financial support for international students is distinguished by its convenience and high coverage rate. Upon admission, students are automatically considered for the International Entrance Scholarship without the need to submit additional application forms. The review team evaluates applicants based on their academic performance at the time of admission. Recipients will receive a total annual tuition reduction of $2,000 (CA$1,000 per semester) in two installments. In addition, the President’s International Entrance Award provides a one-time $2,000 grant to international freshmen enrolling in 2026, which is applied directly as a tuition credit at the time of payment. Hambo’s online application fee for international students is also fully waived during specific enrollment windows.
