Open and Inclusive Admissions and International Support
The college offers a student-friendly admissions process for international students, with basic language requirements of an overall IELTS score of 6.0 (with no band below 5.5) and academic requirements of a high school diploma or equivalent. Certain competitive programs require an IELTS score of 6.5 (with no band below 6.0). Students who do not meet the language requirements may enroll in on-campus preparatory courses, seamlessly transitioning into their main program. Currently, over 9,000 international students hail from more than 140 countries worldwide. Through events such as International Education Week, cultural exhibitions, and food festivals, the college fosters an inclusive environment for cross-cultural exchange.
Generous Scholarship System
The college offers a variety of scholarships to international students each year, including entrance scholarships and academic achievement awards. The Diploma Entrance Scholarship provides eligible international freshmen with $1,500 CAD, while the Degree Entrance Scholarship offers $3,000 CAD to applicants enrolling in January, May, and September. In addition, the college offers a special international student scholarship designed to recognize international students who demonstrate academic excellence and outstanding community service. Each year, the Student Financial Services Office administers over 400 scholarships, grants, and awards totaling more than $4.6 million, with $2 million coming from endowment funds, effectively reducing the actual cost of attendance for international students.
Career-Oriented Co-op Program
Conestoga College’s paid internship program is one of the core pillars of its educational model, and its ranking among the top three in Canada in market research attests to the outstanding effectiveness of its industry-academia integration. The College’s School of Business stands out in particular, with optional Co-op modules available in programs such as International Business Management and Marketing, allowing students to gain industry experience through paid internships while still in school. The college hosts large-scale industry-academia networking events and job fairs annually, with numerous partners directly participating in the selection of graduates. This ensures a smooth transition from the classroom to the workplace before graduation, and graduates have highly praised the program—from employment statistics to salary returns.
The Global Citizen Mindset I Gained from Conestoga College’s Diploma Program
The greatest benefit of studying for a diploma at Conestoga College was cultivating a global citizen mindset. The campus brings together students from over 85 countries, creating a rich multicultural atmosphere. Through cross-cultural classroom discussions and the inclusive guidance of my professors, I learned to step outside my own perspective to understand others. Through social activities such as the COIL online collaboration project and the “Conversation Café,” I engaged in deep exchanges, broke down prejudices, and came to understand that a global citizen mindset is not merely about having a broad perspective, but also about the ability to practice inclusion, empathy, and collaboration in daily life—which has made me more at ease in a diverse workplace.
