Things to Keep in Mind When Obtaining a Canadian University Diploma

Flagship Program Matrix: From North America’s Only Flight Attendant Program to a Top 12 Global Animation Design Program

St. Lawrence College’s academic offerings are precisely aligned with labor market demands, featuring multiple flagship programs that lead not only across Canada but also globally.

Creative Arts and Animation is the college’s flagship program with the strongest international reputation. In the 2026 Animation Career Review rankings, the Creative Arts and Animation program ranked 12th globally and 3rd in Canada. Through deep partnerships with Disney and Pixar, graduates are highly sought after by the industry.

Aviation and Flight Technology is equally renowned across North America—the college operates a dedicated small-airport facility at its Peterborough campus. The Honours Bachelor of Aviation and Flight Technology program is one of Canada’s premier aviation education programs, equipped with a full fleet of aircraft and flight training facilities, allowing students to train in a real-world aviation environment.

Business is another area of absolute strength. The college is home to Canada’s largest business school, with programs in accounting, finance, and marketing establishing targeted talent pipelines with firms such as Deloitte and the Royal Bank of Canada.

Health Sciences is equally strong. Programs such as Practical Nursing, Early Childhood Education, and Community Services have maintained high employment rates for many years, continuously supplying talent to the Greater Toronto Area’s healthcare and public service systems.

Important Notes on Obtaining a Canadian University Diploma

  • Applying for Graduation: You will not automatically receive your diploma simply by completing your credits! You must submit an online [Graduation Application] (Apply to Graduate) by the university’s specified deadline.
  • New Language Requirements: To apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) after graduation, language test scores are non-negotiable. Regardless of their major, university graduates must meet the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 7.
  • Proactively Apply for a Work Permit: This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Students must proactively apply within 180 days of completing their studies to be eligible for a work permit valid for up to 3 years with no employer restrictions.
  • Update System Information: Be sure to update your personal information in the system before graduating and leaving campus to ensure your mailing address is valid. Check your email regularly so the university can contact you promptly.
  • Interruptions in Studies: For some part-time students, PGWP eligibility reviews will be stricter. If there have been interruptions in your studies, proactively contact the university to confirm whether you meet the application requirements.
