Academic Structure and Degree Programs

Founded in 1851, Pacific University is California’s oldest chartered university and the state’s first coeducational private university. It comprises 11 colleges, offering more than 80 undergraduate majors and over 30 graduate programs across a wide range of disciplines, including liberal arts, business, engineering, health sciences, music, law, pharmacy, and dentistry. Among these, Pacific College is the oldest and largest academic unit, responsible for teaching key courses in the natural sciences, social sciences, and the humanities and arts. The Eberhardt School of Business holds AACSB international accreditation; the Arthur Dugoni School of Dentistry is ranked among the top ten in the U.S., coming in at ninth place; and the Thomas Long School of Pharmacy is also among the nation’s top-tier institutions. Together, these three schools form the core framework of Pacific University’s professional education. A printed copy of a USA university diploma

Number of Student Clubs and Organizations

Pacific University hosts over 150 student clubs and organizations across its three campuses in Stockton, Sacramento, and San Francisco. These groups fall into five broad categories: academic, cultural, service, athletic, and interest-based. The academic category includes the Biomedical Engineering Society and the Pre-Dental Association, among others; the cultural category includes the Chinese Students Association and the African American Student Association; the athletics category features 12 competitive club sports teams, as well as numerous recreational sports programs; The Greek life sector features more than 30 fraternities and sororities, which provide ample opportunities for leadership development and community service. All clubs are supported and managed jointly by students and the Student Life and Engagement Center (SLIC), ensuring that every student who comes here to study and live can find a group that suits their interests and personality.

Local Economy and Culture

The main campus of Pacific University is located in Stockton, situated in the San Joaquin River Delta region of California’s Central Valley, approximately 100 kilometers from San Francisco. Stockton is a major inland port and agricultural export hub in California, renowned for its production of fruits, vegetables, and wine. The agricultural economy of the Central Valley provides the university with extensive resources in agricultural business and food science. The city boasts a thriving arts and culture scene, featuring attractions such as the Harkin Museum, Stockton 99 Raceway, and Children’s Park. The emerging arts and culinary scene in the Central Valley offers students a wealth of possibilities for their extracurricular lives.

Financial Aid and Support

Pacific University offers numerous scholarships and financial aid programs. Among these, the Merit Scholarship comes in two forms: automatic and competitive. The former provides $10,000 to $25,000 annually, while the latter requires winning a competitive selection process. The International Student Merit Scholarship, awarded to international students, provides $15,000 annually; eligibility is automatic for students with a high school GPA of 3.5 or higher. The Powell Scholarship offers up to $49,000 annually, plus an additional $5,000 for research projects and a $2,500 international travel stipend. Sixty-seven percent of incoming students receive need-based financial aid, and the actual out-of-pocket cost for federal loan recipients is approximately $23,800, bringing the total annual cost down to around $54,000—truly achieving a balance between high-quality private education and affordability.

Why Is It So Popular?

First, small-class, elite education. The student-to-faculty ratio is just 13:1, with an average class size of 19 to 24 students. Faculty members know every student personally and provide personalized academic and career guidance.

Second, top-tier academic programs. The School of Dentistry ranks 9th in the nation, while the Schools of Pharmacy, Law, Business, and Engineering are all nationally recognized for their excellence.

Third, an outstanding return on investment. Data from Georgetown University’s Center on Education and the Workforce shows that Pacific University graduates’ earnings rank in the top 2% nationwide; 90% secure employment or pursue further studies within six months of graduation, and the median salary six years after graduation reaches $62,700.

Fourth, the advantages of three campuses. The Stockton main campus offers a traditional college town experience; the Sacramento Law School campus is adjacent to the State Capitol; and the San Francisco campus is located in the heart of the tech startup hub, meeting diverse academic and career development needs.
