
School Structure and Degree Programs
Renmin University does not have a traditional “school” hierarchy; instead, it directly offers a variety of online degree programs, all of which are delivered in a 100% online, asynchronous format. Students can pursue their studies at their own pace, which is particularly well-suited to the needs of working professionals and international students. All degree programs include a dedicated academic advisor who provides guidance throughout the entire program; every student is assigned a personal advisor from the application process through graduation planning. The administrative office of Renmin University’s main campus is located at 595 E Colorado Blvd., Suite 623, Pasadena, CA; however, UoPeople is a fully online institution, with all instruction conducted over the internet and students hailing from around the world.
Located in the northeastern part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area, Pasadena is a world-renowned center of academia and culture, home to Caltech. Pasadena is known for its vibrant atmosphere of technological innovation and is rich in cultural and artistic resources, such as the annual Rose Parade held on New Year’s Day and the Rose Bowl football game. As the location of UoPeople’s administrative headquarters, Pasadena provides this global online university with a solid operational foundation and recognition within the U.S. higher education system.
Student Communities and Organizational Culture
Although UoPeople is a purely online university, its student community is highly active and diverse. As of early 2025, the university had a total of 170,126 enrolled students from 213 countries and regions worldwide, forming a truly global community of learners.
In terms of student organizations, UoPeople has established 12 UoPeople@ Communities (regional student communities) located in various parts of the world, whose members include current students, These communities provide UoPeople students worldwide with social spaces that blend online and offline interactions, enabling them to connect with local peers, organize activities, and share learning experiences. Additionally, the university hosts numerous student clubs covering a wide range of academic disciplines and interests. Over 51% of students are first-generation college students in the U.S., and 94% of this group are from underrepresented minority groups.
How to Obtain a Hardcopy Diploma
UoPeople is an accredited university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. The hardcopy diplomas it issues hold the same legal validity and academic recognition as those from any traditional U.S. university. Upon graduation, Students must submit their applications through the graduation application system, after which the university will mail the official diploma and official transcript via Regular Mail to the address provided by the student.
If students wish to choose a more secure and trackable mailing method, they may select Registered Mail when submitting their graduation application; this option incurs an additional fee. If a student wishes to obtain a duplicate copy of their official diploma after graduation, a $25 reissuance fee applies. All official academic documents are managed and issued by the UoPeople Registrar’s Office. These documents possess full legal validity and may be used for job applications, graduate school admissions, and various official purposes.
