Global Recognition Process for Latin-Language Diplomas
Charles University’s diplomas are highly distinctive—jointly signed by the dean and the rector and written in classical Latin on A3-sized paper. To facilitate international employment and further studies, the university provides a bilingual Czech-English EU Diploma Supplement, along with multiple copies of the bilingual Czech-English transcript that students can use as needed. If graduates need to use their Charles University diploma abroad, they must obtain a Czech Apostille. The specific procedure is as follows:
Step 1: Obtain official verification from the Czech Ministry of Education: Submit the original diploma or a notarized copy to the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports (Address: Karmelitská 7, Prague 1). Pay an official stamp duty of 100 Czech koruna per page (“kolek”). The Ministry will verify the document and affix a certification stamp.
Step 2: Apply for the Apostille stamp at the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Submit the document certified by the Ministry of Education to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, which will issue the Apostille stamp, thereby completing the certification for global recognition.
