Cardiff Metropolitan University’s main library is located on the Llandaff Campus, housing a collection of over 250,000 print books, more than 600,000 e-books, and subscriptions to over 30,000 electronic journals and 250 academic databases. The library offers 1,000 study seats, of which 300 are open 24/7. The Cyncoed Campus also features a dedicated branch library for Education and Sport Sciences. Through the “Library Search” platform, students can remotely access all digital resources and book appointments online for reference assistance and academic writing support. Cardiff Met Students’ Union has over 80 registered societies covering academic, cultural, sports, arts, and community service areas. Sustainability and Green Campus
Cardiff Metropolitan University is one of the first universities in Wales to sign the “Zero Carbon Pledge”, with the goal of achieving a carbon-neutral campus by 2030. The Llandaff Campus completed the installation of solar photovoltaic panels in 2021, generating approximately 200,000 kWh of electricity annually and reducing carbon emissions by about 50 tons. The Eco Garden is maintained by student volunteers, who grow vegetables, herbs, and native wildflowers; the harvested produce is used directly in the campus cafés. The university has implemented the “Green Travel Scheme”, which awards points to students who walk, cycle, or carpool to campus; these points can be redeemed for campus meal vouchers. Campus cafeterias have completely phased out single-use plastic cutlery and have established “Vegetarian Mondays” every week. These initiatives led to Cardiff Metropolitan University being ranked as the 3rd greenest university in Wales in the 2024 People & Planet University Green League.
