Computer Science Jumps 50 Places: Flagship Discipline Sweeps into the Global Top 200
Computer Science is NUST’s most remarkable growth driver. In the 2026 QS Subject Rankings, NUST’s Computer Science program soared from 164th to 114th globally—a 50-place leap in a single year—making it the highest-ranked institution in Pakistan for Computer Science. In the THE Subject Rankings, NUST also delivered impressive results: its three major disciplines—Computer Science, Business & Economics, and Social Sciences—all ranked first in Pakistan. Overall, NUST now has 21 disciplines listed in the QS World University Rankings, making it the Pakistani institution with the most disciplines featured in the rankings.

Job Market and Opportunities Along the “China-Pakistan Economic Corridor”
In the job market, NUST offers equally substantial returns. The university operates a dedicated Student Internship and Employment Office (NPO). The 2025 “Career Connect” job fair attracted over 120 renowned companies to campus for recruitment, with more than 2,500 recent graduates participating in on-site interviews. Recruiting companies spanned mainstream industries such as telecommunications, finance, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), technology, and energy infrastructure.
According to 2025 data, over 47% of NUST graduates return to China to join Chinese-funded overseas enterprises. In particular, companies involved in “China-Pakistan Economic Corridor” infrastructure projects have a clear, targeted demand for NUST civil engineering graduates. The university’s overall employment rate has remained consistently high, with average starting salaries for computer science and IT-related majors being highly competitive in the local market. Alumni are widely active in technology, engineering, finance, and key government departments.
