- Centralized Management: Try obtaining it online through the national digital credential system MyCreds™. Many schools have already joined, so your records may be preserved even if the institution changes.
- Precise Identification: If a school is merged, its records and responsibilities will be handled by the receiving university (i.e., the new institution formed after the merger).
- Government Safeguards: If the institution has closed, contact the provincial Ministry of Education where the school is located (e.g., Newfoundland and Labrador maintains specific records, or check if the institution remains on the China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center’s list of accredited institutions).
- Financial Protection: If a private vocational college closes, you may apply to your province’s Student Tuition Protection Fund (e.g., British Columbia’s STPF or Ontario’s TCAF).
