Scientific research strength and key laboratory
The core orientation of QMU’s scientific research is to respond to complex social challenges. The school has a number of strategic research centers, among which the Clinical Audiology, Speech and Language Center (CASL) is equipped with cutting-edge equipment, such as an audiology laboratory and a speech research laboratory, which is dedicated to the analysis and treatment of speech and communication barriers. The Institute for Global Health and Development (IGHD) focuses on the health and well-being of vulnerable and marginalized people. The Research Center for Health, Activity and Rehabilitation (CHEARR) is dedicated to improving the quality of life of people with long-term health conditions. In addition, the business school’s research focuses on topics such as fair work and employee welfare, responsible hotel industry, and recycling consumption, and is committed to the United Nations Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME).
Campus science and technology and digital construction
The main campus of QMU was opened in 2007, which is a high-tech and modern special campus. Its Learning Resource Center (LRC) integrates IT and library services, providing more than 100 thin client terminals and laptop access points all over the venue. All large teaching laboratories, lecture halls and seminar rooms are equipped with SMARTboard, data projector and DVD and video system. The school also has a sports analysis laboratory, an occupational therapy simulation suite (designed in imitation of the real family environment), and professional spaces such as a music therapy room and an art psychotherapy studio. International Cooperation and Global Campus
QMU has established extensive exchange and study abroad cooperation relations with many universities around the world. Cooperative institutions are located in Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the United States and other places. The school maintains the longest cooperation relationship with Greek and British universities, and is its largest international partner. Thousands of students have studied QMU-certified degree courses in Greece. Through the strategic cooperation between QMU and Santander University, students can get financial support to attend semester exchanges or international conferences.
Library resources and book collection
The Learning Resource Center (LRC) of QMU is the knowledge center of students. The library is open 7 days a week, from 6 am to 10 pm, and the opening hours will be extended during the examination. The library provides a variety of learning spaces: 6 independent study rooms, 2 silent study rooms without scientific and technological equipment, 6 bookable group study rooms equipped with audio-visual equipment and smart whiteboards, as well as postgraduate study areas and auxiliary technology rooms. Students can access a large number of academic journals and databases subscribed by the school through the “Discover” service.
Sustainable Development and Green Campus
QMU is a pioneer in the field of sustainable development in Britain. Its main campus, which was opened in 2007, adopted a simple passive design with low carbon and low energy consumption, and won the “excellent” rating of the Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) of the British Institute of Architecture, which was the highest-scoring university project in Britain at that time. The school promises to achieve zero net emissions by 2044, and has reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 39% on the basis of 2020/21. There are “sustainable development theme walkways” and “small forest” outdoor learning centers on campus.
